FISU World University Games Summer Edition Held in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany

By Shaquila Sarapao, Press Committee

Welcome to the Games.

Spanning over 100 years, the FISU World University Games Summer Edition will celebrate their 32nd games in the summer of 2025. Hosted by the highly industrialized and historic Rhine-Ruhr of Western Germany, one can find themselves immersed in the medieval Cologne Cathedral, colorful ZOOM Erlebniswelt, or their rapid transit Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr.

Following July 16, the 8-day table tennis competition begins. There are seven different locations for all the sporting events. Table tennis will be played in the modern, glass-encased Messe Essen, sandwiched between Grugahalle and the Grugabad. If you find yourself needing a break, other sports to see at the venue are fencing, judo, rhythmic gymnastics, taekwondo, and more. Nearby, you can take a short walk to Grugahalle to watch basketball or ETUF Tennisanlage for tennis.
