#1 YOU ARE NOT SWAYED BY THE LEVEL OF THE COMPETITION
As you walk into the tournament, you see that you have a terrible draw playing against the worst matchups possible throughout every event, how do you respond?

Rate Yourself 1-10 here____________
-Give yourself a 9 or 10 if you feel the excitement of the challenge and are ready to do your best
-Give yourself a 6 or 7 or 8 if you sometimes feel the excitement of the challenge and are ready to do your best
-Give yourself a 1-3 if you complain to others about the worst draw ever!
-Give yourself a zero is you just default and leave

#2 YOU ARE HONEST
When the opponent hits an edge ball that no one sees, how do you respond?

Rate Yourself 1-10 here____________
-Give yourself a 6-10 if you call it and refocus for the next point
-Give yourself a 1-5, if you call it but keep complaining about it throughout the match
-Give yourself a 0, if you don’t call it and just take the point

#3 YOU HAVE GREAT TACTICAL ANALYSIS
As you continue playing the match, are you able to understand what is working against the opponent?

-Give yourself a 7-10 if you can recall all the serves and receives and things that worked and didn’t work and you trust your ability to make tactical adjustments as needed
-Give yourself a 2-6 if you can recall about half of the serves and shots and somewhat understand what is happening
-Give yourself a solid zero if you can’t remember anything that is happening

#4 YOU TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
When things aren’t going your way, how do you respond?

-Give yourself a 6-10 if you look to find solutions to the problems
-Give yourself a 4 or 5 if you feel that you are average in this category
-Give yourself a 0-3 if you keep making excuses about lucky balls or playing conditions or under-rated opponents

#5 YOU HAVE A DEVELOPING MINDSET
When you miss a shot in training or competition, how is your reaction?

-Give yourself a 7-10 if you take your time and focus on the solution
-Give yourself a 4-6 if you just rush into the next point without any feeling or solution
-Give yourself a 0-3 if you complain or criticize or show anger without calming down before starting the next point

#6 YOU ARE IN CONTROL OF THE TIME BETWEEN POINTS
How much time do you take between points and are you using your time well for your best performance?

-Give yourself an 7-10 if you intentionally vary the amount of time between points and are giving yourself reminders of what you do best

-Give yourself a 0-4 if you always rush yourself to the next point

How is your attitude towards your training partners, teammates, and friends?

#8 YOU TRUST YOUR SKILLS AND YOUR PLAYING SYSTEM

As you begin each match, do you have a solid game plan for what serves, receives, and shots you do best?

-Give yourself a 2 or 3 if you have no idea if you can do anything well

#9 YOU REALIZE THE VALUE OF YOUR COACH
When your coach gives you advice, how much of it do you remember long term?

-Give yourself a 9-10 if you write down key points, review your notes, ask questions, and give daily feedback to him for how you are implementing these points in practice and matches
-Give yourself a 4-8 if you look at the coach while he is talking, ask questions, and remember 50% of what he taught you
-Give yourself a 0-3 if you disrespect the coach and don’t really pay attention

#10 YOU HAVE A LONG-TERM PERSECTIVE
When you are mapping out your training plan for the year, how dedicated are you to making long term goals and long term progress?

-Give yourself a 7-10 if you have good aspirations, make a detailed plan, and arrange your schedule to make it happen

81-94 ASTOUNDING! You have a world class mind (continue implementing the mental skills in the video).

71-80 NICE! You are really thinking in the right direction – keep up the great mental game.

31-70 OK! You have an average mental game with some good thoughts.

11-30 IMPROVEMENT NEEDED! For the next 2 weeks, you should watch this video everyday and make a solid plan on how to implement all 10 principles.

0-10 WOW! You really need to get some mental help.
