BUILT BY PLAYERS, FOR PLAYERS

PLAY PONG at the Northwest's Premier Table Tennis Club

PPC's mission is to advance the sport of table tennis in a world-class playing facility
that serves high-level players and novices alike. It was founded by Paddle Palace Table Tennis co-owners
who have deep roots in table tennis history, backed by over 50 years of experience in the sport.

Brief History

In the early 1970s, Judy Hoarfrost's family opened a table tennis club in downtown Portland, Oregon. It was named “Paddle Palace” because of its palatial home in an historic Elks Club Building, in a ballroom with chandeliers and ornate carvings on the high ceiling. This successful full-time club was a magnet for players and teams from around the world and a center for training, leagues, and tournaments. Paddle Palace developed a computer rating system for the Pacific Northwest that became the model for the current USATT ratings system.

Judy Hoarfrost was a member of the US National Team for ten years, and a member of the famous “Ping Pong Diplomacy” Team that made history by visiting China in 1971. With numerous US Junior and Senior titles, Judy was inducted into the US Table Tennis Hall of Fame, as well as the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame.

Paddle Palace evolved from club to full-time equipment business in the late 1970s. In 2016, the company moved to it's current location and re-opened the club, quickly becoming the go-to spot for table tennis. Now owned by Judy's son, Ryan Hoarfrost, both the Club and Retail Equipment business continue their commitment to grow the sport of table tennis.
